When you say "we've made these investments available to just about anybody" do you really mean "only accredited investors" aka the top 1% aka "almost nobody"?

    Hello Ivan,

Thank you for your comment. In one aspect you are correct, Patch of Land is currently prohibited by law to allow anyone other than accredited investors to crowdfund our real estate projects. In that regard, we can understand how the phrase “just about anybody” might have been taken out of context. However, during the part of the video which you referenced, Patch of Land’s CEO was explaining the dilemma many real estate investors face in their attempt to gain access to capital through traditional lending methods. As an alternative lender, Patch of Land solves these issues by implementing a pre-funding strategy for our borrowers, allowing them to develop their ideas and bring their projects to life through our crowdfunding platform. Therefore, not all of our services are limited, or made exclusively for accredited investors. In fact, we work with many non-accredited real estate professionals within the industry and truly appreciate their business.

Overall, Patch of Land does not benefit from only being able to serve “1%” of the population, nor do we support the service limitations we currently face. This is precisely why our Co-Founder, Jason Fritton, lobbied alongside Congressman McHenry and Dold to fight for the crowdfunding exemptions that President Obama ultimately passed within the legislation of the JOBS Act. Since then, we have continued to express our desire for Congress to pass Title III and Title IV of the JOBS Act, in hopes that one day we will all be able to realize the full potential of crowdfunding in its purest essence. In order for that to become a reality will require the other “99%” of the population to unite and stand together for a common cause. As we march towards our goal, Patch of Land will continue to educate and build awareness through our blog and other mediums. Your support on this matter is more than welcomed and we thank you once again for your comments.
