Why We Chose SeedInvest for Our Capital Raise

When we started Patch of Land, we believed that the power of crowdfunding would change the face of capital markets. The JOBS Act opened an exciting chapter that would allow emerging and small businesses to access new capital more easily, and allow investors to access new opportunities usually reserved for VCs, Private Equity or those "in the know."

Patch of Land has applied this new power of capital formation to the real estate industry. Similarly, SeedInvest, the New York-based equity crowdfunding platform, has applied this power to early stage investing.

In keeping with our support of the crowdfunding movement, Patch of Land has chosen to become the first real estate crowdfunding platform to crowdfund, or "crowdfinance" itself because, more than ever, we fiercely believe in crowdfunding, in online capital markets, and in the power of partnerships with other disruptive, progressive leaders in the technology finance field.

Partnering with SeedInvest, then, was an easy decision. Like Patch of Land, SeedInvest builds technology that streamlines the capital raising process, creates efficiencies, and offers unprecedented, simplified access to investment opportunities with a degree of ease and transparency previously unavailable. Earlier this year, SeedInvest raised a portion of its own Series A financing round through its platform. Patch of Land’s raise marks the first time another crowdfunding company in the U.S. crowdfunds itself.

We wanted to live, breath and embody the cornerstones that fuel our business-- easy online capital formation through a technology platform, general solicitation through Section 506(c) of Regulation D, and democratizing the opportunity to become owners of our company. Some of our greatest supporters have been our platform investors, so we intend to allow them to participate directly in the growth of our company as we change the face of real estate investing. SeedInvest makes this possible, and will amplify our own efforts to raise a $2.5 million seed round.

The professionalism, collaboration, and focus of CEO Ryan Feit and his team, have been excellent. Their stringent due diligence and compliance mirrors our own in its depth and detail.
