Are you a developer or real estate investor interested in learning more about crowdfunding? Jason Fritton, Patch of Land's COO, will be leading a 90 minute class about crowdfunding and real estate crowdfunding on Saturday May 17th, at the REI Expo in Washington DC.
Crowdfunding presents an unprecedented opportunity for real estate investors, whether active in rehabbing, flipping and building, or passive cash flow earners who understand the power of real estate returns. This class will cover all aspects of equity and debt crowdfunding as it applies to real estate investing, from the perspectives of:
- the real estate operator looking for new sources of capital financing and;
- the real estate investor looking for a new source of cash flowing, passive income from real estate.
Topics that will be covered include:
- What exactly is crowdfunding?
- How does crowdfunding work for the real estate market?
- What is the difference between equity crowdfunding and debt crowdfunding – also referred to as peer-to-peer lending?
- Who is allowed to use a crowdfunding platform and who is allowed to invest on a crowdfunding platform?
- What are the legislations surrounding general solicitation and retail investors (Title III and Title IV)?
- How do you work with a crowdfunding platform as a real estate operator?
- What should you look for in a crowdfunding platform as an investor?
- What due diligence should you do on the platform itself as well as on the investments available?
Jason was active in the earliest days of lobbying congress in regards to crowdfunding exemptions leading up to the signing of the JOBS Act in 2012. His early and continued involvement in the industry will provide attendees a unique opportunity to learn about crowdfunding, and get a firm grasp on this mechanism that has become an industry unto itself, with real estate occupying one of the top spots for uses of crowdfunding and crowdinvesting.
