The JOBS Act Review: 2 Year Anniversary

Two years ago, President Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act -- or JOBS Act -- into law. The landmark legislation fundamentally changed the way that entrepreneurs access capital.

Patch of Land operates under this legislation, and since July 2013 when the ban on general solicitation was removed, we have been able to advertise the investment opportunities on our real estate crowdfunding platform and we launched our first deal in October 2013. Our Co-Founder and President Jason Fritton was lobbying alongside others, including Congressman McHenry at the earliest stages of this legislation's formation.

While the JOBS Act has a long way to go, it has already made significant progress in democratizing investments, capital formation, and the private equity sector. We are excited about what is to come.

Take a look at the infographic that the crowdfunding site Fundable generated, summarizing the key provisions of the JOBS Act, why they are important and what’s coming next for the industry.
