Crowdfunding. Crowdfinance. Crowdinvesting. There are many names for the 'new' way in which companies and businesses are raising capital and spurring growth across the United States. Amongst all the industries, real estate has taken the top spot in funds raised, further strengthening this burgeoning business and the model in which Patch of Land, and others, are operating.
In a report issued today by Crowdnetic, a New York City firm that gathers data on the crowdfinance industry, the real-estate industry has raised almost $17.5 million from investors since the Securities and Exchange Commission lifted its decades-long ban on general solicitation in September 2013. This is nearly three times as much as the next most funded industry, e-commerce, which raised $6.5 million.
We believe that by working together, the companies currently active in real estate crowdfunding-crowdfinancing will continue to break ground and create unprecedented opportunities for capital formation, for access to new and profitable investment opportunities, and for economic growth and recovery through real estate. Patch of Land, with its focus on peer-to-peer real estate lending, is proud to be a leading company in real estate crowdfinancing. Together we are building wealth and growing communities.
